  3. THIS VERSION OF WINDELETE CONTAINS AN ON-LINE MANUAL. TO USE THIS MANUAL YOU MUST
  4. FOLLOW THE ONLINE MANUAL INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS!

  6. This document contains extra information that is not included in the printed user manual. 
  7. We recommend that you print a copy of this file and keep it with your user manual for 
  8. reference.

  10. Online Manual Installation Instructions:
  11. ============================================================================
  12. The WinDelete CD contains an online manual. In order to use this manual you must
  13. have Adobe's "Acrobat Reader" installed on your system. This program can be installed
  14. from the WinDelete CD using these instructions:
  15.  
  16. If you're using Windows 3.x, from Program Manager choose File|Run, then type d:\acroread
  17. (substitute drive letter for your CD ROM). Follow the on screen instructions.

  19. If you're using Windows 95, from Desktop choose Start|Run, then type d:\acroread
  20. (substitute drive letter for your CD ROM). Follow the on screen instructions.

  22. Windows 95 Notes:
  23. ============================================================================
  24. Windows 95 supports all Windelete features with one exception. The system resources 
  25. section of the System Tuner does not indicate the swap file size.
  26.  
  27. Uninstall Notes:
  28. ============================================================================
  29. 1.  The Confirm Uninstall dialog box provides the option to make a compressed copy of 
  30. the application or file you are removing in case you want to restore it later. Enabling  
  31. this feature will override the previously backed-up file or application.
  32.  
  33. 2.  If you're making a compressed backup of an application which you plan to restore 
  34. later, select all the files in the upper (green) and lower (yellow) tab dialog boxes. 
  35. The Express mode only removes the contents of the upper dialog box, so there's no 
  36. guarantee the application can be restored correctly, if you do not select both the 
  37. green and yellow files 
  38.  
  39. 3.  If you choose to remove an application which has in icon in both the Start Up 
  40. and primary application group, WinDelete will perform a more thorough job if you 
  41. uninstall the item in Start Up first.

  43. System Tuner:
  44. ============================================================================
  45. The System Tuner's Integrity Check now includes a scan for Invalid Icons. An Invalid 
  46. Icon no longer references a valid program.
  47.  
  48. System Consultant:
  49. ============================================================================
  50. The System Consultant does not report the processor speed as stated in the printed manual.
  51.  
  52. Program Manager Notes: 
  53. ============================================================================
  54. (This note does not apply to novice PC users. Only experienced users should tamper 
  55. with .INI files.)
  56. When you install WinDelete you have the option to modify the File | Run  (or Start  | Run
  57. for Windows 95) dialog box so that it will always display an "Install with WinDelete" 
  58. check box. Adding this option places the following string of characters to the WIN.INI 
  59. LOAD=statement:
  60.  
  61. LOAD=...C:\IMSI\WINDEL2\PMWIN.EXE...( This is PMWIN.EXE's default installation path.)
  62.  
  63. To disable this feature you must remove the previously listed section of the 
  64. LOAD= statement. Do not remove the entire LOAD= line. Only remove the path to PMWIN.EXE. 
  65. Any other characters of the LOAD= statement should not be removed. Each string needs a 
  66. space before and after it to separate it from other strings.

  68. .WAV files:
  69. ============================================================================
  70. If you have a sound card installed on your computer, WinDelete 2.0 can play .WAV files 
  71. while starting or exiting the program. To enable this feature, copy the desired .WAV 
  72. files into the WinDelete directory and rename them WDSTART.WAV and WDFINISH.WAV.
